Thanksgiving Day

"But I will sacrifice to you with a voice of thanksgiving."
Jonah 2:9(NKJV)

Here in the U.S.A., we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. I love Thanksgiving, I mean who doesn't like eat really, really good home cooked meals. Come on, everybodies grandma is there own best cook. Then, there is the Thanksgiving Day Parade and who could forget FOOTBALL(american). This year, though, I have a completely different outlook on Thanksgiving. After some recent circumstances, it could be very easy for me to take a "the glass is half empty" mind set... but I refuse, God has been so good to me, and even if he never gave me anything else, he has still giving me so much more than I deserve. I believe God challenged me this year to think outside the ussual things we tend to thank God for. It is so easy to be thankful for Jesus dying for us, the Holy Spirit empowering us, and all the wonderful yet obvious things God does for us. My challenge this year was to see God in the smaller things, like... 1) though I sometimes neglect my truck, it still is running strong with over 150,000 miles. 2) all four of my grandparents are still alive and quite healthy. 3) my favorite pair of jeans are really, really comfortable. 4) the internet connects me to all my friends, most of who are hundreds of miles away. 5) i got to go see a movie and go out to eat last weekend with friends... okay movie and food, great fellowship. I tend to take these things for granted and hardly ever even think about what a blessing these things really are. What are some of the basic things you take for granted everyday? When you actually think about it, these things are ussually the things that tend to shape our lives, yet often times we over look them. Unfortunately for me, it takes a national holiday for me to recognize all the wonderful things I take for granted. I hope everybody(american) has a wonderful holiday and god blesses you abundantly.
